Chinchillas and Degus
Chinchillas and Degus
Chinchillas and Degus are often compared and confused. That's not surprising, because they are both related to the Cavia! As a result, at first glance they have many of the same characteristics.
However, when you put them side by side, the difference is quite obvious.
The Degu is small and handy, with a smooth coat and a slightly furry tail with a tuft at the end. The Chinchilla, on the other hand, is much larger, has a thick fluffy coat and a densely furred, fluffy tail.
The main difference is that the Chinchilla is a nocturnal animal and the Degu is mainly active during the day.
